One Health & One Welfare

HOH Helsinki One Health facilitates the generation and sharing of knowledge on human, animal and environmental health and their connections.

The One Welfare approach brings the interconnections between animal welfare, human wellbeing, and the physical and social environment together.

In a similar spirit, the cross-disciplinary project PAWWS builds on the One Health/One Welfare approach. PAWWS involves moving away from the traditional understanding of animals as tools, resources or objects for humans to exploit, towards ethical forms of relating and co-being with animals at work and in society.

PAWWS develops novel, in-depth knowledge of the interconnections between human and animal wellbeing in human-animal work contexts, including building new guidelines and reforms that aim to promote multispecies wellbeing and ethical treatment of animals.
